We've all heard of how Nero fiddled while Rome burned; the modern day equivalent is the majority of people don't care that the world is burning as long as they're entertained and distracted while its happening. We do our own fiddling.
Everyone's heard the fable of the Scorpion and the Frog, where the Scorpion asks the Frog if he can cross the river on the Frog's back; the Frog, reluctant, is assured by the Scorpion that he won't sting the Frog, because it would hurt him also. Halfway across, the Scorpion stings the Frog, and as the Frog sinks he asks why the Scorpion would do that, who replies, "It's in my nature,", but there's an addendum where the Frog says that they'll both drown now, and the Scorpion leans down and whispers, "But you don't know that I've learned to swim."
I bring this up because whenever I talk about how the rich are destroying our planet and that if we don't act NOW (all of humanity), we'll have no planet that can sustain us, somebody nearly always says that the rich would ruin their planet also. My dear sweet deluded child, if you don't think that the rich have bunkers to live out the rest of their lives in comfort while the rest of us burn and starve, I have some bad news for you: the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus aren't real either.
Finally, there's the adage about how if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will hop right out; but, if you put the frog in a pot of normal water and slowly raise the temperature, the frog will stay in and just blithely cook to death. Nowhere in that adage does it say that the cook feels bad for the frog and turns the heat down, allowing the frog to live. We are in that pot and if we don't act FAST it'll be too late, and we're all cooked.
P.S. If you read this and feel like "Well, why hasn't the media commented on stuff like this?" you obviously think that the media (which is owned and controlled by billionaires and corporations) is on your side; they report on what their masters tell them to...
Also, if you read that and thought, "well, since we're cooked I might as well stop trying" I want you to think about someone other than yourself, you selfish prick. Think about the kids, grandkids, and future generations who deserve to live on a world with clean air, food, and water.
Finally, if you're waiting for some Invisible Sky Daddy to come and fix things, the fact that they haven't fixed things yet shows they don't exist. Stop waiting for some mythical being to help us, and help ourselves before it's too late...
