in this month's Wired, talking about how some OF accounts hire people to chat for them. Now obviously, not all OF accounts do this, but if you've ever wondered how no matter what time of day you log in some people are always online and send you a message as soon as you do, it's probably because they're a hire whose job it is to talk convincingly like the person who they're working for and get you to give them a bunch of money for sexting and buying videos they made "right now, just for you".
I mean, on the one hand it's extremely shitty (and in fact, there's a class action lawsuit saying this constitutes fraud), and the way these organizations talk about the customers when they're hiring the chatters is despicable in how they take advantage of people's loneliness; on the other, the old adage about "buyer beware" definitely applies if something seems to good to be true (and if you think some supermodel looking woman who's sold you videos of her impaling herself on a dragon dildo suddenly fell in love with you from the times you've talked -before buying another video or photoshoot- then I've got some land to sell you, real cheap).
Ultimately, I don't have a "hot take" on this, but seeing it I feel vindicated for not believing that some of these women were who they say they are when they try and chat (again, not all OF models, and you can usually tell). But then again, what do I know?
