The other day after I had said I was boring, a coworker came up to me and said, "If you're not happy with your life you could always change it." I cocked my head, confused. They continued, "You know, since you're bored and all."
I chuckled. "I am not bored with my life, but I know others would probably see it that way." Now they were confused, so I continued. "It's like the Adam Ant song said, 'You don't drink, don't smoke, what do you do?' and in this town, a LOT of people do those things. Plus I don't gamble or like sports, which also rules out a lot of people. But trust me, I am quite content with my life, my family and my interests. "
"So why do you say you're boring?" They asked.
"Cuz, a lot of the times when I try to talk about the things I'm interested in, I can either see people get confused or their eyes glaze over. So except for a select few, I just say I'm boring. Easier that way."
