It doesn't matter what or who you believe in. If you believe in something, whether it be with God or the Universe, the relationship should be between you and the energy that you truly believe in.
When you find it, you will know and then you will find your Spiritual Self..
There is nothing to be nervous about. If your friends are truly friends then it shouldn't matter to them and it sounds to me that your best friends are at home with you.
Follow your heart!
