Though I wish death to no man, I certainly feel no loss at the passing of Reverend Falwell. Gone now is a man who preached hatred in the name of the Lord. How could I mourn this man supported segregation in the United States and apartheid in South Africa, claimed that AIDS "is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals" and said (after September 11th), "I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen."

The realist in me sees this as simply one less evil person in the world.

Reverend Falwell, I pray that you finally have the opportunity to realize the true wrath of God.

May you burn in peace.
