Expectations lead to disapointment. I don't expect much of people, and i'm rarely let down. Calloused opinion maybe, but it is self preservation mechanism. One must please one's self to better please those around them. If everything comes at the cost of one's self a point is reached when there is no more to give.

Accept external turmoil to achieve inner peace. Only then you can go about rectifying the turmoil around you without adding a bit of your inner turmoil to it.
