I GOT A JOB!
So, I called all the places I applied to, and they all said, "We're done hiring but if we have an opening, we'll keep you in mind." and I was all depressed, because I really need a job because I have a week and a half to find $125...
Anyway, so I slip into a depressed slumber, and several hours later get woken up by the phone ringing.
Me: "Hello?"
OP (Other person): "Hi, Is Shawna around?"
Me: "This is"
OP: "Hi! This is Kim. Do you want a job, parttime, say 10-15 hours a week?"
Me: "Yes!" (thinking, who is Kim, where is this?)
OP: "Okay, when can you meet with me?"
Me: "Anytime you want!"
OP: "Let me clear a spot in my schedule" *puts me on hold*
Voiceover on hold: Jim Dwyer Insur...
Me: "Shanna, did you apply to an insurance place?"
Shanna: "Nope"
ME: YES! it is for me!
OP: How about 9:30 on Thursday?
Me: Perfect!
After I found out where the place was (about 4 miles away), I called my mother and asked her if she knew who this person was...
And this is what I figured out:
my mom told one of her friends who told her mother who told one of her clients who happened to be a friend of my mother's from HS (who used to be married to my stepfather's brother), that I needed a job, and voila-- nepotism at it's finest!
Now I just need to find a ride there at nine thirty on Thursday...

Nepotism is great as long as you're the one getting the job
