Friday, I went on another ride with the Midnite Ridazz. There was an incredible number of people there. Over 100, easy. As we started up Sunset, the line of people waiting to get into the Echo were all cheering us on.

We rode through the central library garden and then down to the science center and circled around the jet. Afterwards, we made it back up to Sci-Arc, but it was boring. So, I decided to go to Pedro's and get a beer.

Some blues band was playing. It was their singer's birthday. 76, She was amazing.

I met a couple of guys from chicago who were also riders. We set out to go get some mexican food, but they were too fast for me. By the time we got to my street, I couldn't see them anywhere, so I went home.

Saturday, I just puttered around the house doing errands. I ended up drinking Pyramids and watching Stanley Kubrik's "The Killing", which is one of my favorite films ever.

Sunday, we actually had band practice and everyone showed up. It went pretty well. I need to start booking some shows.

After practice, I hung out with Nick who is house-sitting for a dominatrix friend of ours. We made mojitos and smoked really expensive cigars while we started planning our trip to Joshua Tree next weekend. It was nice.

That night, I went out for Italian with Glen to Osteria Nonna. I had the trout, which was excellent. After dinner, we went to The Scene to catch The BellRays. I'm friends with Tony Fate, the guitarist, and it was really good to see him again since it's been over a year. The BellRays are doing really well. They have a song on a Nissan commercial right now and they just left to tour Europe.

My last band, Masher, used to play with the BellRays all the time. We have this mutual admiration thing going on. The BellRays are like a 70's acid soul band. They are really amazing. Lisa sings like a hybrid between Tina Turner and Aretha Franklin.

I'm really happy for them and I admit I am also a bit envious.

Not much has been going on otherwise. I have been sleeping too much. It's really easy to do when you don't have to be at work until 2pm. I'm just concerned that it might indicate some depression, but I can't think of anything that has really been bothering me. I haven't been exercising as regularly as I should. I guess I should start getting up at a regular time and sticking to it.

I want to hear music that opens my heart
I want to write, I want to write my own part
I want to hear music that makes me cry
I want to live my part before I die

I'm not in FL yet, but the decision has been made & I'll probably be gone in a month. The deed is done, the die is cast...

"Welcome to Downtown Leesburg, Florida"...

If you'll be hitting Palm Springs at all on your trip, let me know. I'm still here for the time being. wink

Was the singer named Mickie, or something? I saw a lady of a certain age sing blues at Pedro's about a month ago. She was also amazing, and loud.
