SG is a great place to see enamourous women, but a horrible way to meet people. After three months, not one friend. Either I am a loser or I need to somehow morph into a hot, slinky SG. Then I'll have LOTS of friends...Whatever. I'm getting a beer.

Adelina has the good advice posted. post in journals, join groups, watch the hook-up section for public SGLA events [most regional groups require attendance at a public event they will accept you]. Pay attention, it's not that hard to pick up on the site's little idiosyncrasies. This is a good place to meet people.
