Blizzard caused Denver airport closure and cancellation of my flight. The only thing the had to offer was a refund for that part of the flight and a free christmas eve redeye that will bring me home at 8am christmas day. It was that or cancel the whole trip. It's going to be a rockstar christmas. Short & sweet. Lots of anticipation & excitement, camera flashes, condensed drama, quick reacquaintances. Then I'm out of there within 48 hours.

My vacation has gone from six days to four days. At least I'm getting $250 back. I just picked up an excellent bottle of cognac for only $20. I'm going to clean the apartment, watch movies, and do music. I'm not going to dwell on the the whole thing. I'm lucky I get to see them at all. A lot of people are just screwed.

People said, "why don't you push your return back?" There's no way in hell. You can't rearrange your itinerary around christmas when there isn't a blizzard. Besides, there's nothing for me to do at work. I've been given piddly tasks outside of my normal work just to keep me busy. It's hard to stretch four hours of work into a ten hour shift.

Well, this will give me time to spend with the new upright bass. I'm also going to see Bob Lee's punk rock christmas set at Mr. T's Saturday. I want to go to magic mountain tomorrow, but I can't find anyone to go with. If I go by myself I will look lecherous.

Louis gave me a copy of Mr. Wait's new 3 CD collection "Orphans". I've listened to it twice and it's goddamn immaculate. If you're a fan, you gotta get it! Man, if I could choose a career as a musician I think I would choose one like his. I'm not much for the mythology, but if I have musical role models, he's definitely up there with Paul Westerberg.

Did I mention the cognac was excellent? skull
