The Sunset Junction is this weekend. The "mardi gras" of silverlake. This means a weekend of debauchery, not being able to move my car, and then there's the parties and BBQs.

The junction started out as a community event and has slowly morphed into a "fundraiser" for a private non-profit. Over the years, I've slowly become less tolerant of the street fair. The only reason I'm going this year is because they are comping the neighbors w/ wristbands. The city decided to stop donating their services. Hence, the $12-15 cover. Even if I weren't going, I would still want to be able to go to neighborhood shops.

Saturday morning, the street will be lined with cars parked illegally. Also, there will be packs of frustrated drivers who aren't aware of the event and can't figure out how to navigate around it on the back streets. The bonus is the public vomiting and urinating....

I really want to see the Cramps.

Work is going well. I'm making mistakes, but am still ahead of the curve. I'm looking forward to settling into my regular schedule. 4pm-2am M-Th. Three day weekends every week. Other people are telling me not to expect too much when negotiating my new rate. I have a wait and see attitude. I know how much I'd like to be paid. They don't have to give it to me, but if they are smart they will give me incentive to stay. I was happy with my last review. So far, I feel valued. I'm hoping something similar goes down when the time comes. I'm still scraping by. I know I'm not going to get rich as a wage laborer. I just would like to make enough to have something to work with.

My knees are holding up. I've wridden 30 miles this week and things are cool. There's a 55 mile ride up in Ventura in October I'm thinking about doing.

I've been writing. I've got four new songs to teach the guys. I need to start booking some more shows. I hate booking. I need a manager.
