So I was able to meet my boyfriend's parents on yesterday evening. Let me tell you, it was the most uncomfortable feeling I've ever had. First of all parents usually hate me. Secondly, Michael told them about me on Saturday, they arrived yesterday and we've been dating for the 6 months, living together for 3. So I don't know what possed him not to tell them before. This is my verision of some of the conversation
Mom: Is your insurance up to date?
Michael: Yes it is.
Mom: Are you sure.
Michael pulls out the insurance card and shows his mother. Of course it has his wife's name and insurance company on it.
Mom: Does Lee know?
Michael: About what?
His mom then motions to me with her eyes. Clearly I can see her considering we are at a booth in a diner and she is in my visible sight.
Mom: About her?
Michael: Of course not.
Meanwhile, his dad doesn't say anything and I am looking over his head. Pretending that maybe I'm not there. A huge mess it was.
I wanted to drop to my hands and knees and crawl out of there. I already feel like a total ass for being with someone who is married/on their way to divorce. When I met him, he didn't tell me straight away that he was married, it took about 2 weeks and nightly dates with one of them being me NAKED on the bed trying to get him. Then I was told. By this time I was already far gone for him. Making it difficult for me to beat up him or something. I'm mad at him for not telling his parents beforehand. His argument is that I didn't tell Wensly soon enough. Although I told my mother everything, even when I know what my step-dad did to her. That was the hardest thing. I know it's not his mother's fault that she said,HER, instead of my name. She probably doesn't remember it. It's not that simple of a name and he never said it aloud before. He told her in an email.
I want to not snub them because I want a future with Michael and I'd have to see them at least once a year or year and a half. But I feel like I have TOWN WHORE written across my head or the scarlet letter. Blah.
