Here is something somebody wrote about atheists.....
People always say they are atheist, but most of them don't really know what that means. I think because they don't want to be Christian or Catholic they call themselves atheist. The rest deny because they want to be rebelious or shocking. Denying the exsistance of God, or a god of some type, whatever your beliefs are, I believe is to deny ones own soul. Perhaps they are afraid of what they might find inside themselves.
I can tell you these same people will start praying to God the minute their life is in danger.
It's called instant religion.
And here was my responce...
hehe.. you have a valid point. but i do not believe in god or the devil. i belive in a spiritual world surrounding all of us, it's something that connects us and all things together. it is something we will not fully understand until we pass on. believing in this compared to a fear of judgement by some guy on a cloud seems more realistic to me. and besides, i am a nice person who means well, if there was a judgement day for me, i would fair quite well. if you believe in god, then you know that "he" gave you the freedom to choose. in other words, he gave you the right to believe in him or not to believe in him. he cannot condemn you to hell for choosing not to. unless, of course, he is an asshole.

do people believe in god because of "faith", or do they believe in god because of "fear" ?

interesting question, my friend. I myself believe in God because of Faith. Much like the Personal Jesus track I believe we all have that inner voice that tells us right from wrong & helps us to rationalize things. That voice to me is my God. I also agree with your idea that were all connected by the spiritual world. It's a tough issue no doubt. I hope you enjoyed the DCD show. I talk with Bob Mould & enjoyed his show where he preformed his entire catalog. Great Suger tracks. Hope all is well with you & yours.

I really enjoyed the show & his first 3 tracks were Husker tracks in year order. If you get the chance do catch this tour, he's touring with the drummer from Fugazi who is great in his band. The second question is yes. I've been away from myself & have now returned to put things right once again. I do feel much better now. Hope is is well. Chao
