After many years of swearing I would not own another dog (I love dogs - I really do), we have decided to get one. Lots of thought went into this decision. And Barbigirl and I have decided on a Boxer pup. Its finally the right time...have the house and yard for it. We have 2 young kids that love dogs and will give it lots of attention. Financially we can afford all that comes along with it. Between the 2 of us we run anywhere from 50-120 km a week so he'll get lots of exercise.

I have shyed away from having a dog for a while now...even when we had our last dog, I was saying that I wouldn't get another....BUT - the reality of our last dog is as follows: When I was 16, I borrowed my parents car, drove to the pound, and purchased a dog - Cocker Spaniel - why would the people at the animal shelter give a 16 year old a dog is beyond me. The reason I bought this mangy mutt? To pick up chicks of course....LOL - that was my solid reasoning as a kid - "hey girls love dogs - and this one seems cute". Yep, its true I was, and will always be an ass.

So, this dog had issues. Far beyond what I was capable of dealing with. Unsocial, un-groom-able (even by the best groomers) and barked and whined a lot. BUT, she was my dog...and we enjoyed many nights on the beach, and by the camp fire together....she was a good dog, and we loved her, and at the same time, biggest pain in the ass....so thats why I never wanted a dog. She died 4 years ago at the age of 12.

Things change....and here I am excited about having another one...The right breed, the right timing, and the right commitment....We both have always LOVED boxers...there temperment, athleticism, intelligence, curiousity...etc...

We get him on Jan 8th. So, here he is. Reverse Brindle, Non Flashy - At 2 weeks old Meet Griffin.

Oh - and no more 'stache - sorry ladies.
