Well I made it to Minneapolis, cost me over $600.00 for a one way ticket. Got to the airport and hertz wouldn't rent me a car saying my license was suspended. I'm the same way. I am kinda picky when it comes to real friends. I have alot of aquaintences, but not too many friends. Rattfinkpink lives in PA. But, unfortunately she is about to move to CO soon. She could tell you about alot of places to go and hang out, she gets out alot.

I've been contracting for a little while now, and I can honestly say it's not a bunch of rocket scientists. I felt exactly the way you do about not knowing enough. You won't know everything, cuz every place works different,...but if you're working on military AC then it's no different than the Army. .Most of the ex-military guys spent more time writing counseling statements and saying "do you concur?" than working on birds, so they are all talk(most). I do my work and say FUCK EVERYONE ELSE!
Plus, these guys work at a snails pace...really.
It amazes me how they get any work done. It's like being paid to hang out and take breaks. I'm used to working harder.
For instance...we had a 1000 hour phase on an Apache. Usually at home you get about a month maybe 2 for 1000 hrs. Here they get 6 months!!! Plus, if they don't have parts or whatever, they extend it out and don't really seem too miffed.
Everyone speaks English, but you'll learn some Dutch. You can take classes too like I did(but I stunk). It's not difficult if you practice.
I'm telling ya, it's a chill job. A monkey could do it.

All you need is your military certificates to prove you are officially trained and qualified. I don't think they care if you can do it, as long as you have the papers that says you can. Weird.
They kinda do what they want to anyway...acting like they are all A&P mechanics, bragging about how American mechanics suckass and they are so much better.
I'll just let them keep thinking that....
