i made it back from Florida last night after several plane delays and some rough weather. it's kind of surreal spending your morning at a shooting range with a bunch of rednecks and then finishing off the day in a taxi going down the streets of the Castro.

Christmas vacation was nice, i ate way too much food -- esp. fudge and buckeyes -- but i got to see "Meet the Fockers" and "Serpico" -- both recommended. we were out in the middle of nowhere, north of Tampa (like drive down dirt road nowhere). being out of SF makes it easier to understand how uninformed and conforming the rest of the country is --- and how they could all vote for Dubya.

but i did get to live my white trash dream of shooting a .44 Magnum in the front yard of my in-laws. the next day we actually went to a real shooting range and i got to shoot a Mark 1 .22, an M-14, a .38, and the .44 again. i enjoy shooting even though i'm not really into having guns, and i'm especially NOT into hunting.

so it's almost NYE and i'm getting ready to implement a whole slew of resolutions, or direction changes if you will. with my birthday and new year's so close, it's very easy to completely alter certain areas of my life. i'm not going to miss this past year, even if, in retrospect, it was one of the most influential of my life.

addition: this is kind of fucked: while in florida, the phone line was dead for three days so i had no internet connection. now i'm back home and the phone line here is dead. thank goodness for DSL. but still, WTF?
