South Beach, Miami

bling! bling! and the surrealness of setting, sugar-daddies and wanna-be's, stretched thin in Dior and the glossy eyes of endless summer, packed strips of 22" rims, racked endlessly in spools unraveling along avenues of abuse and sonic mayhem, catcalls and tanlines, the falsetto of lingo and the thump-thump of stereo surroundings, long lines and grey eyes underlined with a week's worth of the pontification of style over substances, shaded violence strutting past open-air cafes and the soft sweat that still lingers even after it's all left behind.

to say the least, i was very happy to be back in SF. the more i travel, the more i appreciate the laid-back atmosphere and open-minded attitude of home. but i try to live the non-judgemental life, so i would not say that it was a bad experience, it was just . . . interesting, to say the least.

i saw two of my best friends there, though, one of whom i hadn't seen in two years. connected with some good people as well at some exceptional parties . . . still have to say i love the drum and bass . . . every club had fantastic sound. the highlight of the week was seeing Jeff Mills spinning at B.E.D. -- a club, that coincidently, has an enormous bed in the center of it and other plush beds surrounding the dancefloor. Jeff Mills tore the place apart, one of the best DJ's in the world easily, deftly layering minimal Detroit techno rhythms until the whole place was in a frenzy. danced my ass off. for future reference: it's much easier to get into a club in Miami when you're with three attractive women.

everything has shifted upon returning home. the weather is warm, and i have this sense that something is different. i feel healthy for the first time in months, if not exhausted from traveling and having to work this evening. the next few months are going to be intense, but i feel more centered now than i have in a long while. so regardless of my perception of the trip, i feel it's necessity has pushed me into a new realm where dreams are beginning to manifest, and my mind is sharpening upon the tasks ahead.

but for now . . . sweet, delicious sleep.

After reading Sicily's journal, Naiad's journal and yours...I have to say that I feel really bad that you had to deal with Miami. Shit, I should have stopped you guys! *lol*

Next time you decide to head to Florida, hit the west end of the state and go to Sanibel Island.

To. Die. For.
