I decided about a year ago that people who constantly talk about how they're going to kill or hurt themselves in public deserve a big, public hug. It will either embarass the hell out of them and hopefully knock some sense into them if they were faking or could make them feel better (if they feel bad enough that they must announce it to everyone, they won't mind a hug in front of everyone). Either way, you get to find out what the real intentions of the threats are. It's win-win, really. (note: I've not gotten to try this yet so this is based on theory alone)

If they tell you privately, it's time to spread the word anyway, to others close to them (parents, friends, etc.). This is never something a person should have to cope with alone. And if the other does go through with it, there would always be the feeling of complete guilt to cope with. Whatever you choose to do, I wish you luck in solving the problem.

I have a Mini S I love it. I have driven it in the snow twice now and it handles great. I had no problems with frozen doors yet. You should try putting Anti-freeze all around the doors and in the locks. This should help keep the doors from freezing up on you. I did this to an Opal GT I had as a teenager and it worked great. Good luck

amen, it's TOO EFFING COLD here. holy moses. and it's gettin' worse tomorrow.

Last year all 4 of my doors froze on my accord, so I climbed into my car through the trunk before work. that was hot, especially when I had to raise the question, "were you turning the key the right way?"

yes, the painting is getting better. I'm super excited about it right now. The only bummer is the lack of source material i have for painting, like pictures and models and all the stuff that's great for referance. Although my friend tiff is going to sit tommorow so I can work on getting proper lighting down
