Case in point -
Asian Tsunami, deaths, 100,000
Smoking, 150,000 last year.
Aids, 3,100,000.
Which do people care about most? Some tidal wave shit that we as humans can do nothing about.
Nature>people.
We *can* do something about other killers, yet we focus on whining about forces out of our controll.
Why? Because we as humans like controll, if we cannot conquor it we cry, whine, etc.
*sigh*
Within a week some celebrity will kill a 12 year old or something and the 100,000 tragic deaths will be forgotten because one person is easier to put a face on than 100,000 just like 100,000 is easier than 3,100,000

I'm planning on spending New Year's at home since I've achieved the next level of cynicism, the one that involves a distaste for social interaction. (Actually, I just can't think of anything interesting to do that doesn't cost bucketloads)
