Mystery Illness = STAPH infection.

Penny gets the kewpie doll. The pussey sore covered one.

Movie Rentals of late:

Onibaba: I rented this one because it has a cool demon mask on the cover and figured it couldnt be half bad since its a CRITERION COLLECTION edition. A horror story based on a Buddhist fable, the movie takes place in medieval Japan among swaying fields of long grass that obscure bad things similarly to the cornfields of Middle America. In this case, the nastiness is two uber-creepy women, an old woman and her daughter in law, who kill passing samurai for their gear, which they trade for bags of grain. When a returning soldier takes the younger woman as his lover, it causes problems and a demon mask is, eventually involved. The black and white photography is incredible, slots of subtext to think about, and the movie delivers the goods. Great Buddhist theology like "Sinful Lovers become souls with human faces, growing four legs and falling into Sinner's Hell where they are tortured with red-hot irons!"

Stacy: Schoolgirl zombies animated by a mystery substance called Butterfly twinkle Powder. What else needs to be said? Oh, candy-colored chainsaws selling under the brand name Bruce Campbells Right Hand and zombie death squads called the "Romero Repeat Kill Troops". The effects are fucking awful, but they are plenty of them and boy are they gooey. There may be some interesting subtext here (the whole schoolgirl feitish thing and teenage girls desire to be loved? Maybe?), but who cares as long as I can see another head and spinal cord ripped off like Sub-Zero.

Also, Buffy Season Six came in the mail at exactly the right time. About halfway through now, and savoring each episode like fine wine. Yeah yeah, the musical episode was as good as everyone said it was. My dad even liked it and he usually hates Buffy.
