OK so this weekend:
Spent about 20 hours on instant message with this person.
I went to see "The Last Samurai", which i'm not even bothering linking. A total rehash of "Dances With Wolves" with a leading man who is just as unappealing as Kevin Costner. Good fight scenes and nice armor, but a completely ridiculous script ("Japan was made by a handful of brave men willing to die for what seems to have become a forgotten word . . . honor,").
The real treat was seeing the Hellboy trailer, which, despite my grave doubts, looked really cool. It looks like the movie has gotten the look of Mignola's characters right. Looking forward to this one a hell of a lot (har).
Read more of "Goblet of Fire" which may be one of the slowest books I've read in a long time.
I also did a little work in thinking out a retelling of Snow White I have been bouncing around a while. This will be headed to a comic or maybe a children's book/adult book format. This is basically an illustrated book that looks like a kids book, but is meant for adult readers due to its rather explicit drawings. Has anyone done something like this yet? If anyone has caught a book like this, please point it out to me.
