When it comes to birth men need to butt the fuck out!
Serendipity [Gwen's horse, not the totally hot woman on this site. Serendipty is a totally awesome Morab mare.] is pregnant. She went in for a routine vet check. Chuck decided to give this junior vet some practice. Well, when this junior vet, you guessed it, had his hand up Sera's ass (He was trying to feel the outside of her uterus by way of her large intestine, because--Western veterinary medicine thinks this is absoutely essential
) he tore her intestine! So, all this bacteria and fecal matter is spilling from her intestine into her abdominal cavity. We rushed her in a horse ambulance to a facility that could do the surgery. She had peritonitis. It was touch-and-go for a while there. But I think she's gonna be okay. I think her foal is going to be okay. ::Great big sigh of relief::
Now she gets to eat alfalfa mash for a month because nothing rough can go through her intestine.
She hates it.
It's all so needless, she was fine--before she went to the vet. This only increase my conviction that midwifery is the way to go. Western male doctors (and Western male vets) don't know what the fuck they're doing!
P.S. Is there a certain irony that a man is writing this?
