Jobs are hard to come by up here, unless you've got some very specialized skills. That's how my husband got one. I'm more of a 'jack of all trades' kind of woman, and it's done me no good in Portland. That's one of the contributing factors in my decision to go back to school.

It's also nice to hear good things about Portland. My boyfriend is from Seattle, so he naturally loves it there. I was a little worried about moving there until I visited. It helps that I am totally okay with rain. It beats the hell out of snow.

Being married to a software engineer has its benefits, though. Since I don't entirely need to support myself, job interviews are more like I'm interviewing them. I only take a job if I want to. Plus, I need to have time to study my Japanese, so I'm not all that fired up to get a job.
