So Jordan has joined the coalition more than whole-heartedly with running some very heavy airstrikes against ISIL: nice.
I don’t see how you can even survive airstrikes, right? I mean, those F-16s that Jordan still uses aren’t exactly the Nissans of the fighter planes in this day and age. They’re still truly amazing and awe-inspiring birds, and the fuckers carry an extraordinarily heavy and hot weapons payload.
The Vulcan cannons alone that sit under the nose of the Falcons are beyond ridiculous: 20mm rounds at typically 6k/min: that’s 100 rounds a second.
A second.
100 rounds.
Are you fucking kidding me? The M61 Vulcan doesn’t destroy things, it just disintegrates them. The pilot targets it, and a second later the thing he was shooting at just isn’t there anymore.
That is literally a holocaust of firepower in that pilot’s hands. And he’s still got missiles, as well as a whole bunch of other goodies.
So yeah I don’t understand how one defends against an airstrike. How do you take cover? I’d think the best thing to do is just run naked into the bullets and get it over as quickly as possible.
(I don’t really think that being naked would help; it’d just be funny. Buncha dudes sacrificing their terrorist asses with their schlongs bouncing around.)
Otherwise, as in the words of Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen (played by Sting) in the film “Dune”: “you’re just prolonging the inevitable.”
