What a big fail for the weekend so far! I should have really posted very early this morning, but I was pretty well worked at that time. Plus, I still had some work to do, so it was just about finishing that and going to bed.
Anyway, yesterday -- being the most-hallowed Friday the 13th -- was partially disappointing because I was so caught up in work for nearly all of the day. However, I did then go out with friends for the duration of the evening, so that was a good way to celebrate an unholy occasion. We were originally going for sushi, but then seating five became a problem, so we went instead to Sipz North Park, which is a blessed establishment with a lovely gal who waited on us.
The food was amazing and we ordered some great wines, but the highlight of the evening, for me, aside from being with my friends, was the back & forth I and this girl had going. She mentioned, jokingly, that she could do with a shot of Jger. So I, in my partially drunken state, left the restaurant and went running around the block, trying to find a liquor store. I was going to buy her a bottle, I reasoned, and then ask her to call me.
However, I sadly found no such retailer, so I went back to sit down with my friends, and I asked this gal that if I left her a tip substantial enough to buy a bottle, might I give her a call? But before I even had the chance to leave a tip, she said I could call her anyway and left me her number on the back of the tab.
This, to me, was a wonderful thing, and so I left the place on a bit of a high, and Im thinking Ill give her a ring tomorrow.
After that, I was a bit schookered, but I wanted a goddamned Dairy Queen Blizzard! So luckily, I had a friend who was a DD, hence he drove me to the Mission Valley Westfield Mall, where they make the best Blizzards on the planet! I then promptly got a large one with Reeses, cookie dough, and Oreos (damn, thats making me really hungry again) and we went back to his pad to check out Insidious, which really underwhelmed me.
I thought it was fine. I mean, it was competently made, but nothing terribly original. Highly derivative of Poltergeist", as well as heavily influenced by the more recent Paranormal Activity -- though unfortunately I think it can stand up to neither of these films.
So thats how yesterday ended. And today, I got up late (being a bit hungover), exercised, and then left to go to a picnic to celebrate the recent doctorship of a friend of mine. The whole thing was wonderful and sprawling and filled with great friends and food. And I was profoundly grateful for having been invited. I didnt bring anything except a bottle of wine (and I even forgot to give that to my friend before I left), so I felt a little guilty, though I was (of course) expressly told not to.
After that, I left to get more ice cream and a paper shredder and, basically, now Im here. With you.
