[ Now playing on the Severe Trauma Sounds... "To The Devil, A Daughter" Motion Picture Trailer by Peter Sykes from Hammer Film Productions ]
I just finished watching Sacco E Vanzetti tonight, which I started yesterday. Made me cry.
" qui a lei, Nicola e Bart,
Riposarsi per sempre qui nei nostri cuori.
Il momento ultimo e finale il vostro,
Quell'agonia il suo trionfo!"
("Here's to you, Nicola and Bart,
Rest forever here in our hearts.
The last and final moment is yours,
That agony is your triumph!")
[ Words & music by The Maestro, Ennio Morricone; vocals by Joan Baez ]
Ideas, especially those that celebrate the commonalities between human beings, as opposed to their differences, should always be celebrated. They should never be attempted to be extinguished, for that effort will always prove fruitless. They will never be extinguished, they will live forever in all those who remember.
Remember Ferdinando Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti.
I did have a great date tonight at PB's Tower 23 Jordan restaurant. Not necessarily an inexpensive meal, and the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, but the food is goddamned impeccable. Worth every penny.
The girl is from the Czech Republic, though she's been in the states for nearly 15 years now. We talked for a good while during a drive to some friends of mine Friday night and then a bit Saturday morning. Very intelligent, used to be a high school teacher in Czechoslovakia, and now does creative marketing for green-friendly projects here in San Diego. Had the Alaskan King Crab, oysters and mussels as appetizers, then I had the NY Strip and lobster for the entree. The girl had the tuna tartar. Again, the food was absurdly brilliant. Very good date, too.
I feel a bit bad for my lack of posting over the weekend. Friday was a very busy day at work, though I had a really great time over at my friend Jeromy and his wife's place. Our good buddy Eric was there too, and we DJ Hero'd half the night, and spent the other half watching A Serious Man. That, plus good food and good wine made it a great Friday night.
I truly think I'm a lucky guy to have such good friends.
Yesterday was a little lazy, but I did clean the hell out of my apartment (not that it needed it that badly) and picked up another Wii Remote to replace the one I busted out of my Sports Tennis frustrations. Thing is, I guess I like to think of myself as the Roger Federer of Wii Tennis, but really I think I'm only the Wii John McEnroe.
Later that evening, I went out with my friend Marg to Casa Adams again. I love that place, and apparently so does the rest of San Diego! When we went a week ago on Sunday, we didn't really go that late, and there was practically no one there. However, last night it was packed, though there still was no wait. And I had my fave once again, camarones and carne asada with three shots of Don Julio and a Modelo Especial.
After that we went over to Kearny Mesa Bowl and met up with four mutual friends to bowl and karaoke the night away. Pleasant fun.
Anyway, now I'm finally posting the rest of that vinyl I acquired in Denver about a week and a half ago, so here goes the full list of twenty-six (including the ten previously posted):
