So today was day#1 of my week off work; with very little money and very few plans I decided I'd finally go and get my ears pierced - like I'd been talking about for months but never got around to. This made it perfect because they could heal/bleed while I'm not in work...
So, I visit my piercer and explain what I'm after - envisaging that we do the normal 1.6mm piercing, then that has to heal for aaaages, then I have to slowly stretch them over the coming months.
He explained that because it's a fresh piercing, it's quicker, easier and ultimately cheaper to get them pierced and then - provided I'm comfortable, go for the stretch straight away.
The piercing itself obviously didn't hurt but the stretching certainly stung. My right ear needed some coaxing and it was more hot stinging than actual pain - hell, you do worse by accident on a daily basis. Stubbing my toe hurt more... Left ear was a doddle, taper went straight in, barely any pain, and there you go.

And yeah, I saw them on the DevilDriver tour in Northampton; tiny tiny venue so was really close to the bands. Behemoth were amazing xD Last night of the tour apparently.

Theres a fair few less proffesional studios where I live (or did live), but mainly the worst fuck ups I've seen with piercing and stretching were done by people themselves. I don't condemn it at all as a practise, the self stretching thing, just a lot of people I know have rushed into it and fucked up. Like gone up to 20mm in a few weeks.
I was right at the front in manchester but I wouldn't say it was a tiny venue. A lot of kids and dickheads there though, which I was a little suprised about.
I've got no idea how large I wanna go, I'm happy for now at 5mm because I like my jewellery! But we shall see. I'm more into tattoos than piercings, but they're damned expensive.
