Summertime - Fire Theft

When we roam,
Faded rumors that outlast the century,
Crazy heroes all painted in glass,
Which way to the stars,

I'll be home
In the landscape of a new century,
Crazy millions have all long since passed
Their way to the stars,

Summertime,
Lift back the veil that hides you and me,

I can run
Bearing rumors all traced in the past,
Painted mirrors all aging with cracks,
Which way and how far,

I will try
To reach the landscape of where you begin,
Not the reflection of what I pretend,

Summertime,
Lift back the veil that hides you and me,
Summertime,
Lift back the veil that hides you from me,

To own opinion,
What do you want it to be,

So I'll carry on
Faded rumors that outlive their destiny,
Crazy millions have all long since passed
In way to the stars

When it shines in the summertime,
Lift back the veil that hides you and me,

Some other time,
Lift back the veil that hides you from me.

I used to have such a solid impression of what this song meant to me, that for some strange reason, now eludes me. There was a time only months ago where I would have listened to it for a sense of inspiration and drive. This morning, however, I skipped over it only to come back later and feel practically nothing. My taste in music has changed drastically over the course of the last three years and I find myelf unappreciative of songs I once adored on a fairly regular basis. Yet this one surprises me. I suppose it's because I still love the group and the album as much as I did previously. Actually, no, that makes perfect sense. I have very strong associative tendencies and this particular tune was intrinsically linked to my assumption that my ex-girlfriend and I would work things out. Well, I've long since passed that assumption by in memory, so it stands to reason that the song's impact on me would diminish. And now I'm just some guy talking about a song for a paragraph now, too lazy to acknowledge where new paragraphs belonged and too lazy to press enter. Huttah.

Yeah.. Changes can be difficult, no matter what form. But "you" is what's remaining throughout all the changes. it's not something you can just lose. I think that's a good thing, most of the time.

And.. I wouldn't be thanking you for a lie tongue
