Had a semi-interesting evening. Business at Hollywood Video was almost entirely as usual save for one tiny little detail. Apparently, at some point during the many years this location has been open, we managed to make an enemy. I use a very indefinite "we" as I was not, of course, an employee of the company for as long.
Anyways, setting aside the humorous and anecdotal tone I was half-attempting, something struck one of our windows. I pretty much have to tell it like that seeing I was the closest thing to a firsthand witness and all that is known to me is:
Aural - Thunk!!
Visual - Is it snowing?.. on just that windowpane?
Taste - Pepsi is good times.
Seriously. It is was one of those incredibly cartoonish double-take moments where I glance in the direction of the sound that I heard, look away, and look again in order to register and assimilate the information. Then I walk over to the window and inspect, greeted by an oddly pleasant crackling sound. The sound of the spidery cracks settling into their least energetic state was practically hypnotic, though none I worked with appreciated it in the same odd sense that I did. It took about five hours for the sound to stop, at which point, the window looked like this:
I know not whether someone threw a rock at us, or whether perhaps some car passing by flung a pebble at a high velocity. There doesn't seem to be any indentation associated with a bb or a bullet, so it seems unlikely that it was intentional. Either way, it provided every employee and customer a good ten or fifteen minutes to gawk at the most (relative term) interesting happening to pass through their lives for some time, which prompted me to observe that people can be such children at any time. I love nothing more than to see gawk-faced awe painted on faces, knowing full-well that I'm not immune to the effects myself. Hell, probably more so.
Also, it's considerably past midnight, which makes it November 21st. I suppose that makes today my birthday, and I suppose that makes me 20. No longer am I a contemporary of the ranks of teen. To be perfectly honest, though I despise the collective unconscious assumption of maturity/intelligence/wisdom as it correlates to age, I'm going to miss feeling "at home" doing the occasionally stupid, wreckless, or self-destructive thing.
Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to stop doing them.

The childishness of this strip always gets to me in ways that no amount of intelligent dialogue or witty banter will ever accomplish. Today's made me smile, and even semi-resembled how I feel. So, here you go:
