So it is time to post something interesting. I think I'll use this as my main blog now. Much better layout and all.

I had my first little show with the band side project yesterday. We played a 40 minute jazz set at Starbucks. I was actually a little nervous to play because I wasn't playing too well at rehearsal that day due to my lack of sleep, but everything went so smoothly and all I can say is that it felt so amazingly good! The crowd turnout was a lot bigger than expected. We had the option of playing inside, but decided to play outside because we felt it would attract more people's attention, and it worked. We were told that people driving through the parking lot actually parked their cars to get out and watch. We will definately do this again in the next month with even more material then before. Our goal right now is to have two sets, which is about 11 or 12 songs. I wanted to record this set onto my laptop to make cds, but I wasn't able to find a good spot for my laptop and mic. I did however get it on video, and the next performance will definately get on my laptop. As I said the next show will be within the next month as I still have to go and talk to the manager. As of right now we are going by The Unamed Trio until we can come up with a really good name.

Another exciting event to happen this month is the main band's first gig with a new lineup (the bassist, Nate, and I) and new name: A Place To Call Home. We are all stoked about the set we're going to play because all of the songs have been reworked and sound SO MUCH BETTER than they did 5 years ago. I joined up last October with the guitarist. The funny thing is I found his add on MySpace. He had just gotten back from UCLA with a degree in Chemistry and was looking for another guitarist to reform the band, which at the time was Phosgene Factor. Odd name yes and that's why we decided to change it. The beginnings were the worst because it was just me and the guitarist (Anthony), and for some reason it just felt really weird. It was music that I never had an interest playing or even write, and I almost decided to leave, but something made me stay. I'm glad though because I feel really really really good about this project.

Haha well that's my first REAL blog I guess. A little bit of the history of my band. Anyone reading this is probably saying to themselves, "Who the hell is this guy?" or something of that nature, lol.

Hmm I don't have much more to say tonight, other then life is good right now, hehe.

Oh yes the gig is July 28th at Pine Street Bar and Grill in Livermore. Right now I have no idea of the time, but most likely around 8PM. I'll post more details in the next couple of days.

Byebye for now!

:-)
