Cake's out of the oven. It smells delicious.
When finished, this is going to be a golden layer cake with chocolate sour cream frosting.

Procrastinating like a maniac. I've got a piece of writing to get done for work and I just can't get my head around it. Instead I've:

Gone grocery shopping
Picked up some take-out
Eaten some take-out
Started baking a cake (and taken pictures of the process)
Looked at the visitor stats on my blog and tried to figure out how the hell traffic is being...

unsub:
Hmmm...I do the same thing when I have deadlines.

Good luck
semicynical:
Thanks. I'm really sweating through this. But the cake's going to be fantastic.

I'm pathetically influenced by TV. Since I'm going to be in LA in March, I thought I'd see if I could book a session with Chris Garver. I've been ready to get another tattoo for a while and from watching Miami Ink obsessively, I got it stuck in my head that I HAD to go to him. The crackly voice on the answering machine at...

The place next to mine is for sale and there's an open house today.

All afternoon as I've been working in my basement, I've been treated to visions of expensive coats and footwear passing through the alley-way between the two buildings.

I've lived here for almost four years and in that time I've been really lucky to have good neighbours. For some reason, though, I'm...

And now a report on how the piercings are doing:

The right-side piercing is on the upswing with fewer incidences of oozing or crusting over the past week.

Meanwhile, on the left side, the troubles continue. Despite careful cleaning, a small camp of irritation has established itself beside each hole. The nipple has been deemed off-limits pending improvements to its status.

Less cranky today but still a bit sad. Somewhere on Wednesday afternoon as I was getting myself from Toronto to DC, I lost my fountain pen. It was a graduation gift from one of my closest friends and I'm really sad that it's gone. Oh, and I've lost my bank card too.

Other than that the world is rosy. I'd particularly like to find my...

I found my pen! Can the bank card be far behind?

Got a chance to see a friend of a friend tonight. She's subletting an awesome house in Capitol Hill. The couple who lives there has been in the place for 30 years and have made it into an elegant but welcoming space. The big wall of well-used cookbooks made me weep. I now want to own the Time Life "Terrines, Pates and Galantines" book.

And...

Staying in a reeeeealy red room in DC. Totally silly place. Lots of mirrors. Totally cheeky.
oracle:
sounds AWESOME biggrin
semicynical:
It's not bad. A waste of a place if you're not travelling for fun, but inspiring nonetheless.

Heading to DC later in the week for work, but I will have one night off. I really don't know the city by night and would love suggestions of places to go. Somewhere where people who go on their own are neither preyed upon nor ignored. And that has good music. And cheap drinks. Hmmm ... Sounds like Club Impossible.
