it is WAY too early to be awake. i have to go to therapy with my husband and his son. i personally don't think therapy is going to do this boy any good, because his issue doesn't really lie with his behavior. although he does act up, part of it is because he is a preteen boy with raging fucking hormones and confused as hell, and secondly he is incredibly intelligent and manipulative. and all therapy is doing is reinforcing this fact that he is an "innocent child". i swear children are very manipulative, some children, lol.
so being up early im watching his interesting movie right now called Unchained memories: Slave narratives, and I swear I am entranced by this thing. They have black actresses/actors performing actual slave narratives. two quotes i found interesting
"that's how whites were back then...some had hearts. some had gizzards for hearts"
and (a little background first)
they were showing a picture of two slave children who were mixed, as it was very common for slave masters to rape their female slaves. and the two children were running around playing in the backyard, when the slave owners ACTUAL children came back there, and said "you can't play here, this ain't for niggers". and those two slave children said "we aint niggers, cuz we got the same daddy you have. and he come by every night to see us and our mama, and we call him daddy".
i actually laughed at that, because the minds of kids are so clear at times. they say what they feel, and their world view is so untainted.
and then one slave on regards to the fact that slaves would be beat if they were caught with a book.
"white people say that if we learned, we would become smarter than them".
like i said i am captivated by this. now the interesting thing that i found out during parts of this documentary and other research in my african studies class. was Lincolns plan for the slaves. did you know that after the civil war was over, that Lincolns original plan was to ship all the slaves either to Cuba or to Africa, but then he was murdered, and that never happened.
Well that is your history lesson for the day! i need to get my husband awake and dressed so we can go pick up his son, then head over to this doctors office.
