fafsa is in but i doubt i'll get much aid. it's fine. i don't need much to go to pcc. hell, if i get a job by the end of the month, i won't need any aid to go summer term, i can just save up and pay for it out of pocket.

taxes are submitted electronically. check back in 24-48 hours and make sure it didn't fuck it up. presuming i didn't, i'll be getting $500 back from the feds, sw33t.

owe oregon $27, owe multnomah county $66ish. so figure $400, which is plenty to either get deep thought working or go ahead and buy neuromancer. i just need something that will run half life 2.

once ryan(the twin brother) gets here, whenever that ends up being, i can steal the power supply to his old computer which is exactly the same as my old computer. only his power supply works while hal's power supply likes to heat up and fry his hard drive.

but otherwise hal is fully functional. he only runs win95 and he's not exactly fast, but he'll run half life one. and there's the wierd story of how i found a fully functional win95 install with all my old programs and everything still on it, on a hard drive i'd thought was blank. turns out i took it out when i upgraded to win98 and never got around to formatting it. sweet. except for the no power supply bit.

waiting. once i get hal working and can toss money at deep thought and/or neuromancer, i can stripmine all my shit out of wintermute and sell it to my ex's mom for enough cash to buy the 20th anniversary optimus prime toy. i'm such a dork.

what i ought to do is sell her hal 9000, keep wintermute until i get deep or neuromancer working, and then get rid of 'mute as well.

except i WANT to keep hal, because he'll be my vintage gaming machine; running win95 and dos, so i can play old school games that won't run on win98 and up. stupid windows.

god i can't wait to get something that'll run xp. i do enough graphics shit that i NEED the hella-powerful integrated picture browser in xp. that thing is smooth as silk.

scott is trying to convince me to switch, but i still don't like mac much. i don't like the os interface vs the win interface and i don't like having to pay so much goddamn money for a machine i can't fix myself. even if i'm probably not going to have to fix it.

maybe i should just get a powerbook and stop caring.

but at the point that i'm spending big bucks on a laptop, i'd rather get the ten inch vaio with wifi.

or a $5-600 desktop on sale at fries that will run hl2, and an x-box, and a gamecube, and a gameboy advance, and a psone + ff7, and a cellphone, and stargate sg-1 seasons 1-6 on dvd.

because, you know, i could do that for the price of the vaio i want(two grand...)

speaking of stargate, they're playing sg-atlantis teasers now. just a cryptic 'greatest secret in human history will be revealed this summer' while the camera moves past a bunch of seaweed on the ocean floor and zooms up to a stargate just sitting there. i could be just seeing things, but it looks like the chevrons and the symbol ring glow blue. if that's how it is on the new gates on atlantis, i so so so want a toy of that.

hell, i just want sg-1 toys. i'm astonished that it's lasted seven seasons, had a cartoon spinoff, and is now going into it's 8th season playing concurrently with the live-action spinoff, and there's still no toys past the shitty kenner movie line and a few resin kits of ra, anubis, and horus.

hell, andromeda already had a line of shitty 12" figures. that's all i want. give us real-scan heads, joe-quality outfits, and a nicely sculpted staff weapon for teal'c. i can replace the bodies if i have to, and give them seburo guns from the ghost in the shell figures. it's the head sculpts and nicely stitched uniforms that i can't provide.

okay, that's not all i want. i want legos, and i want a four inch line like the star wars toys that includes all the important sub-characters. hammond, bretac, ra'ak, carter's dad, apophus, anubis, skaara, a gate-room playset, sg-1 in full uniform, casual uniform, and alternate heads for each season. teal'c with soul patch, daniel w/bandanna, ascended daniel, teal'c in jaffa armor...
and i want 12inch figures by bbi, styled like their cy-com ninja figures, of the anubis and horus guards from the movie. those designs were hella slick and deserve quality representation.

i bet sideshow gets the license and screws it up, like they screw everything up, with almost, but not quite, good head sculpts, painted heads instead of flesh-tone plastic, good but not great costuming, limited production runs, and high prices. fucking sideshow. their stuff is SO not worth the money.
