finally got around to putting a pic up in my gallery, check out my hella powerful keyring. it used to be gold, but all the gold wore off so now it's silver.

still has the inscription inside and out so it's still badass.

someday when we have nanotechnology we can make rings with elvish inscriptions that light up with body heat or on command.

also bioluminescent tattoos. that'd rule. i want glowing fremen eyes.

note also the star trek keychain on there with my keys. i got that for a birthday or christmas present back in like middle school and it's been in use ever since. since it's essentially a big hunk of metal with some clear red plastic or something inside to fill in the design, it's invincible. and it looks swanky.

i had fake keychains that i'd made on my backpack zippers back in high school. i ended up with star wars figure heads on one side(the main pocket) and japanese icons on the other(the front pocket)... i should dig those out and photograph them.

back then i was first getting into customizing action figures and was trying to figure something to do with the extra removable-helmet vader head i'd ended up with. something that hasbro would never ever ever do.

hey, i know! i'll cut off the pasty anakin bits, replace them with luke, and then cut a crack in the faceplate of the removeable helmet bit, then plug it on. then i get luke's face inside a smashed vader helmet, ala the ghost in the cave on dagobah. sweet. hasbro will never do that!

naturally, as soon as i'd finished the head, hasbro announced, you guessed, dagobah phantom vader.

and their version kicked ass! the entire thing was made of a clear grey/black plastic, the faceplate was fully removable and more accurate to the movie, and the entire head was removable, because luke cut the damn ghost's head off when it came at him.

goddamnit!

oh well. as a result, my version's head became the best keychain ever.

he was accompanied by an extra fett head i had, which has lost nearly all the paint by now, a similarly paintless pikachu, and a little tiny godzilla.

i guess that counts as diy, although capitalist idol-worship probably negates any diy street cred it got me.

Oil pastels are the best for drawing out the bruise blue goblins...messy enough to be used with strength and fury. wink

I feel a little the same- the rest of the album is okay but a little bit boring, and definitely not such a mind-shaking experience as "Clocks" is...
