Had a hell of a time with the ice this weekend. Internet just got restored, and I have been stuck at home since Friday at about midnight. The ice was in sheets along the roads, and I couldn't get out of my neighborhood, or even open the door to my truck for that matter.
Got a new Stanton turntable this weekend, which was fucking great, but I got it out of the box and realized it didn't come with a cartridge, so I couldn't listen to any vinyl. The turntable is like an $800 job, but was marked down to $299. My grandmother is a huge music fan, and has the greatest vinyl collection ever. She has original prints from Elvis, Buddy Holly, Gene Vincent, Fats Domino and the like. She doesn't listen to them anymore, and I am trying to talk her into letting me have the records. They are just sitting in boxes, and I know one of my family members will pawn the damn things for beer money if I don't end up with them. Wouldn't it make sense to pass them on to someone who would appreciate them?
The good news is that I have a short work week this week. I'll work Monday thru Wednesday and then fly to Vegas on Thursday for the Social D show.
