A CASE STUDY IN SMART VS. BOOKSMART

my friend eric (recent recipiant of an MBA from washington university) and i drove to wendy's late last night to satisfy our marijuana-induced chow pangs in my dad's silver 2000 jaguar XK8 convertible.

kid in window: that'll be $5.28.

me: alright.

KIW: (refering to car) damn son, how much you had to pay for that?

M: my dad had to pay $90K for it.

KIW: (coldly, without making eye contact) oh, so you get to drive it.

M: well, i am housesitting, so, yeah.

...a few minutes later, down the road...

M: did you hear that guy back there?

eric: what do you mean?

M: 'oh, so YOOU get to drive it...'

E: so?

M: so? you didn't think that was just the slightest bit indignant?

E: i suppose so.

M: you 'suppose' so? what does that mean?

E: tell you what, beau. when we get home, i'll look up 'indignant' in the dictionary and i'll tell you what i think then.
