Tonight, my heart smiles.

My fantastic, thoughtful husband, has just made me some 'Parpy soup'

For those of you that haven't been keeping up with the latest blogs, Parpy is my grandfather, who passed away a couple of weeks ago.

He used to make this split pea soup. He made it for years. I grew up on that soup. Every afternoon, after school, I would jump the fence, over to his house and have some soup.

Everytime we had a family gathering, there would be soup. Always soup. Always Parpy soup.

The morning he died, myself, my husband, my brother, my Mum and Dad, and my aunt and uncle, gathered at Parpy's house, waiting for the funeral director. He had made a bew of his soup the night before. That morning, we all sat around the kitchen table, eating his soup. Just how he would have wanted it. Everyone in his house, in the kitchen, eating his soup. That was a very special moment.

And tonight, my house smells just like Parpy's did when he was cooking his soup.

It's an amazing feeling.

My heart is happy.
