I too come from a small and tight knit town originally, and I know how people "back home" love to spread the conjecture and hear-say around. Alls I can say is fuck it. By the way, in response to your question, I do alot of b+w fine art stuff ( mostly portraiture and some editorial stuff). I'm currently drudging through commercial studio work in school, but ya know, it all makes us better artist in the end... or some horseshit like that.
