I just wanna rant/vent for a second on something that I've seen around this site for a bit which makes me wonder a little bit ...
there tends to be a focus, maybe not on this site alone but I've seen it a lot here on pointing out certain things that "are cool" and "are not cool" or things that "signify good taste" and things that "don't signify good taste"
that whole thing about taste and culture and sub cultures, where does it come from, what inherintly makes a genre of music or a type of film or a way you dress any better than another genre of music another type of movie or another type of clothing. I see all these opinion polls around here on the boards and the groups... did you like this or that cd and people say no because its not cool to like it because its this type of music. Its not cool to like Linkin Park in a hip sub-culture group because they are mainstream, yet its okay to like linkin park in mainstream culture because to them they are the epitome of keeping it real rock and roll.
I don't really know what Im getting at ... maybe Im just tired of hearing people say your dumb for liking this or that. Espeically when it comes to music. People say good taste = underground rock and dudes with measy hair and jean jackets .... but not the strokes because they've become to popular. All of the sudden this genre of artists who are all the same and sound the same (at least to me) has become the epitome of good music and those who listen to it are welcomed into the IT section of music because they apparently know whats good and everyone else doesn't.
I like music .. a lot but Im not gonna go around preaching to everyone that the kind of music I listen to is the begin all end all of good music... theres lots of good music out there in every genre. Maybe if you were more enlightened you would understand and maybe pass on bands to other people and see if they like them instead of judging people.
I don't know if that made any sense but Im done venting/ranting.
mood: Sick of people thinking they are cooler than other people because of the music they listen to or the way they dress or the movies they watch.
Music: Uh-Oh Im listening to AFI right now ... I hope thats cool enough for all these insecure people out there?

The punk culture is judgmental in nature, I don't like it either but that's the way it is.

i thought of something i do hate though. people that say a brand new band that just came out is their favorite band of all time. that shit pisses me off. how can a band with one cd be your favorite band? wtf?!
