A recap of my weekend: On Saturday, whilst Amanda was out on her way to go wedding dress shopping, I went off in search of a new hoody.

This was a sound plan. She's not keen on spending a couple of hours with me as I basically hangout in various skate shops -- I know someone at just about every shop in town, so I end up chatting for awhile whenever we go into one. And I ain't supposed to see the wedding dress.

A fine plan. A simple plan.

So, of course, our car had to die. Okay, not die, just go into a coma.

For the better part of 20 minutes I sat pleading, and sometimes praying that when I turned the key the car would miraculously come back to life. Alas, it was not to be

As I sat in the parking lot by Skaters, alternatively weeping and cursing, I contemplated whether or not I should call Amanda to let her know that Chewie -- yes, we've named the car "Chewie", lets move on -- had possibly bellowed his last "HURUAGH!!!" or try to figure out how I would pick her up without a functioning car.

I opted for the sooner. Though I waited about an hour to do so so she could at least get something out of the day.

As chance would have it, she wasn't having a very good time of it herself. Her plans, though she avoided details, weren't going very well as it was.

Eventually, she and her mother came to pick me up -- AMA was on it's way to tow Chewie over to the nearest Kal-tire, and we went off to rent a car. Course, the only place to rent a car on a Saturday afternoon 'round about 5 is at the airport.

We did manage to get a totally sweet old folk's car as a rental -- a Buick Century. It even had seat heaters. Whee-ow. 'Course it was gonna cost about $250CND for the five days we hoped the repairs would take to be completed, but, fuck, seat heaters.

Turns out it took four days. A wire had shaken loose. Or corroded. Or taken a sabbatical. Or something.

So yesterday, we returned the comfy-as-an-warm-blankey Old Foggey Mobile, got a slight refund on returning it a day early, and drove Chewie, in all his gurgling, sputtering, wheezing crack-in-the-windshield, two-tone-silver-and-rust glory home.

I did manage to get a hoody, by the way. It was on sale. Had a nice fleece liner for those consistently chilly Calgary nights. Unfortunately, the blue fleece liner pills like mad.

I look like I've been mugged by a mob of blue meanies.
