We live pretty close to this man-made pond thing (more on that later), so the humidity is on the high end. Well, high end for Calgary, so that's not saying too much, but bear with me.

The ice fog last night left a nice sheen to everything in the neighbourhood this morning. The streets, the light posts, the houses, it was kind nifty in the morning light.

We decided to take a walk around our new community 'round about the time the massive--and I do mean massive as in awe inspiringly freakin' huge--Catholic church let out Sunday service. That sheen turned all the sidewalks into one giant ice sheet, so it was pretty funny watching all these people waddle out like penguins from the church. 'Course that got less funny as me and Amanda were shuffling along right beside, slippin', slidin' and oft times, fallin'.

Anyhoo, after a brief bout of tailbone bruising, we managed to find our way back home through the various little alley connections. The community is built with a New England/Colonial feel, so it's laid out in much the same fashion; effectively confusingly.

We wandered by that pond I mentioned at some point and time, and we were talking about how on the news during the summer they reported that the salamanders, confused by the sudden down pour after weeks of hot days, were instinctually attempting to migrate.

Now, I thought that was just freakin' neat. Salamanders. In a city that has effectively two seasons. Winter, and, ung, Stampede. Hope I get to see the little buggers attempt to migrate this year. I wanna snap some photos.

We got a call yesterday from the people who built our house asking us if they could take some people through our home. Give 'em a look see at a house in that particular model looks like. We were pretty wary until the woman told us the builder would pay us 50 bucks for each tour.

"50 bucks?! Shit, we're freakin' Disneyland."

The tour group turned out to be 10 people. Lemme tell ya, 10 people ya don't know walking through your house, turning the lights on and off, looking behind your shower curtain, turning on the taps, and generally touching YOUR shit a day after you've moved in is not a completely pleasant experience.

I'm just glad we hid the sex toys and pr0n mags before they walked through.

A couple hours later, the builder rep calls back, and asks if we'd wanna do this on a semi regular basis. At that time, I'm thinking I don't want people walking through my house, tracking mud onto my hardwood, touching, well, anything, ever. Not even for the 50.

So they sweetened the deal. In lieu of a paying us each time, every time someone who toured our home buys the same model, we get a referrer fee. That's $500 dollars. Now, we had to debate this for a mo'. Let's say we do this 10 times, we're sitting at $500. Sounds easy enough, so why bother going after the $500 on the off chance someone buys the same model.

We figured it this way. The first time we walked into this model of our house, we fell in love with it instantly. We went signed up to buy one the same day. There's a good number of them in the neighbourhood, and out builder claims that for every ten or so people that tour one of these, two of them buy one.

She was probably pissing in our ears and telling us it's raining, but ya know, what the hell, if it pans out, we're sitting on a grand for furniture in like a couple weeks. Hell, maybe I'll even be able to buy a computer that doesn't crash when someone tried to Direct IM me a file.

Ech, one can hope, right?
