Miscommunication

In one of our preschool rooms, Child A hit Child B with a toy school bus. This gave Child B a lovely red mark right below her eye. Since we don't generally want parents to walk in at the end of the day and be suddenly confronted with an obvious injury, I ask the teacher in that room to call Child B's father and let him know what had happened. This is somewhat how the conversation went:

Teacher: (child's name) was hit in the eye by a school bus. I put ice on it and she's ok.

Parent (hyperventilating): Why was she near a school bus?!?!? Were they in the parking lot?!?!?

Teacher(not catching on to the problem): No, they were in the block area. It's a small mark under
her eye. I put ice on it, and she seems fine.

Parent (still confused): She got hit by a bus, but she's fine?

Teacher (finally getting it): No, no! One of the other children hit her with a toy bus.

The parent was fine after that. He was even able to laugh about it later when he picked his child up.
