I will never forget where I was on this day 9 years ago...I had just gotten out of my Psychology class at school and was walking to the student center with my friend Carl. There was a big screen tv there and when we walked in people were just glued to this tv. At first we couldn't really see what was going on but we managed to catch a glimpse of the images on tv and read that our country was under attack by terrorists. We just stood there in shocked silence in disbelief of what we were seeing. There were people climbing up on tables just to be able to see. A few minutes later we all watched in horror as the second tower was hit. I scrambled to get my phone and call my brother who lived in New York at the time. Luckily he was out of town for business that day and I was so relieved when he answered my call. We continued watching the footage on tv as students and teachers poured in to the student center. I found my Sociology teacher and with tears in my eyes went up to him and hugged him tightly...he had a son living in Manhattan. There are no words to describe the horror of that day. I can't even begin to imagine how terrified those people must've been and the awful decisions that they were forced to make. Those horrific images will never leave my mind. We lost some of the bravest souls that day, and they will never be forgotten. I will never forget that I live in the greatest country in the world. Thank you to all the men and women who protect our freedom unselfishly everyday.

So please take a moment today to remember: FDNY, NYPD, American flight 11, United flight 175, American flight 77, United flight 93, all the citizens of New York, Washington DC, and Shanksville PA, and all the friends and families that lost loved ones in this tragedy.
