I got to meet Joey once. I've met and hung out with so many bands from the work I've done in the music industry, and Joey was the only one I got nervous being around.
It was backstage of Warped Tour 1997. I was watching the Descendents play, standing next to one of the guys in Less Than Jake, and out from the back gates a limo pulls up. Out comes Joey Ramone. He walked right next to me and here's how it went.
Joey: What's up man?
Steve: Hey, not much.
Joey: You like these guys? (Referring to the Descendents)
Steve: Yeah... old fan of theirs.
Joey: Yeah they're pretty cool.
He stood next to me watching the remainder of their set, and then went back to the limo.
I was nervous as fuck and didnt want to come off like an idiot, so I held back all of the excitement I was feeling inside.
One the most unforgetable moments of my life.
