Another hot one, but the fog's rolling in. I understand the city is enveloped (The coldest winter of my life was a summer in San Francisco. Mark Twain). Novato, on the other hand, gets plenty hot in the summer. The burnt and wilted hydrangeas outside my back-door are testimony to that, and I watered them this morning before leaving for work. Oh well, they'll grow back; they always do. After work, I and five co-workers played volleyball. Good fun. I earned the nicknames "Octopus" for some uncanny, off-balance hits and "Twitchy" for a buzzing insect inspired dance that left my associates clutching themselves in mirth. I understand it is important to be able to laugh at yourself once in a while; how important is being laughed at, I wonder. After showering off the sand and sweat, I went to the store and bought a Judy's Breadstick with sunflower seeds(perhaps the most delicious bread in the entire world), some motzerella cheese (the kind that comes packed in a small tub of water so it's extra rich and moist), and some fresh tomatoes. That was dinner. A banana, nectarine, orange juice, wheat germ, and plain whole milk yogurt smoothy was desert. My house-mate, Subramanian, and I watched To Kill A Mockingbird. Easily one of the greatest American novels ever written and a mighty fine movie as well. Now a gentle, cool breeze from the Pacific Ocean blows through the open windows of my house on its way to the San Francisco Bay, mercifully cooling the interior to a livable degree. Sleep, must sleep.
