I'm launching an art magazine!

I started working on this Art magazine last summer, and we are finally going to print in one month. I took my time to make sure we got everything right, down to picking the perfect paper stock- spending countless hours touching paper samples from 7 different printers in 3 different countries, (we are keeping it local and printing in California). With some of our artists, I returned to their studio multiple times, to make sure we were setting the standard for our storytelling- the lived experiences of creatives and how it shapes our work.

We are working with filmmakers, painters, photographers, authors, muralists, galleries, etc. to make something really special. A resource and an inspiration- which I feel is so needed right now. With everything going on in the world, this is OUR space.

This is a grassroots operation, it is completely independent and I would love your support- pre orders are open now. Supporting the arts is important now more than ever. You can subscribe at ART BAR SHOP. Or find it on socials (at) artbarmag.

Issue one is on the streets in July and will be stocked in bookstores nationwide (+ international) including Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.

This is very much a passion project with a focus on the importance of art and creativity for mental health.

Artist featured here: Scott Listfield.

Fantastic news. You might want to check out the Hilbert Museum in Orange, California. They have a permanent collection of Mary Blair; one of the first ever female animators at Disney. She animated Cinderella and Peter Pan. The early women in animation went uncredited on the features they did while all the men were credited. even when the women did the majority of the art.
