Sometimes I enjoy my work... Because I can see things that very little priviledged people can.
Yesterday I was allowed to visit a security datacenter shelter, the company of one of my dearest frinds are doing the server installation... For security reasons im not allowed to tell about it's location (inside a city, on a basement... =8-P), nor showing working personnel photos or any other thing that can conflict with security specs.
Well after reviewing and deleting lots of photos this is what they finally allowed me to get out...
Main entrance: 20 cm steel enforced concrete sliding door...
bombproof, EMP resistnant, with two pneumatic 15 cm steel locks (the blue ones in the corners of the block) they keep that grave airproof sealed.
[]
First Room: this lab will be full of large shelves with lots of racks and optic-fiber cable. It's a big room. (400 m).
[]
Power Panel: Independant and redunded power connections per rack.
[]
UPS: Auxiliar Power Unit
This big box (7 meter long) assures 12 hours of continuous power to the servers in case of shortout or main power failure
[]
In case this "little" ups goes down there are two diesel power generators to assure power supply to the complex, with enough fuel to work one week.
Servers: this are the ones that are being installed right now, this shelve is 10 meters long and houses about 200 servers (100 each side). It's a pity they didn't let me run a quake2 server (for testing purposes) with a 100 clustered beowulf nodes and two redunded 1 TBPS output lines, I think it could be a very interesting game....hahaha

Well, that was another day in my computer tech world, counting down the days to the weekend.
Have a good time.
