Music business today is obviously paranoid of peer to peer exchange. They are right in a way, they are wrong in another. I don't want to discuss it here (unless you start a huge topic in the comments or in a forum!). But i wanted to let you all in a little secret, something that you don't often see.
Lately, from big labels, there's this trend of sending out totally watermarked promotional/advance cds. Now they have made one step further, they are nominal cds! So, this cd that i received today, has my own name on it! I find it so cool... LOL. Right under the artist name, there's this primary-school note of "this cd belongs to..."

And not just that. Oh no. The cd gets to you sealed. You have to read a contract before ripping the protection and being able to extract the cd.
So, i thought "this stuff doesn't happen everyday", and i took some pics just for you, dear readers. Guess it would make a great set "deflowering the cd", or something like that. So, have fun reading the contract, see me rip the cardboard bit, and then let's see who this cd belongs to! Ah, the funny bit is that after ripping the cardboard bit (and after scaring you shitless), then they wish you to enjoy the music! Ahaha!
Actually, does anyone know hwo this watermark-thing work? how can they understand that an mp3 ripped off this cd is coming right from this cd? I am just curious, i wouldn't do such a thing under no circumstances, but i am a techno-peasant so i'd like to know how this can work. Any clues?

Oh, by the way, not sure i can reveal whose artist this cd is. Let's say, it's a rather well-known frontman, and if his spanish-sounding name was to be translated into english, it would be something like "Dark-haired chinese".

Oh, and i have a ton of interviews this week!

- Paradise Lost (goth/doom metal)
- Maxim (that guy from Prodigy!)
- Liquido (german pop band?)
- Barcode (old-school hardcore from Denmark)

Anyone got any questions for them? Pleeease help. LOL.
So much work... so much fun! smile

Ciao!
