Cars will save my life one day.

Or they will kill me.

If anyone would like to donate money to my addiction of making beautiful cars, please don't hesitate to drop me a line and I'll totally give you my address so you can cut me a check.

I've got two of the stupid things (cars, not checks, unfortunately). One is black. I've generally regarded it as sort of crappy, even though I love it to death and I'm very proud of the fact that it is my own. I come from a town where most high-schoolers expect and/or demand their parents purchase them a vehicle upon getting their license. I have also seen parents forgo their vehicles to their fledgling students so that the might look 'cool'; at least I can come to no real understanding as to why they would do this.

Of course, on top of this, many of these parents believe that it is right to also provide their kids both gas money as well as the cost of insuring the vehicle. It is also not unheard of for a kid with a brand new license to receive a high performance vehicle, crash said vehicle, only to receive another one. More than one teen has died from such ignorance.

So I will say with more than an ounce of pride that my car is my own. I saved money since the time I was very young, until about the time I was 17 (almost 18 [sorry, inside joke]), whenceforth I spent my money on purchasing a 96 Jetta. I cannot say that I pay for the gasoline or the insurance, as my parents are gratious, but I recognize that without their assistance I could not enjoy my hobby as I do now. (I put 1000 miles on the car in 8 days this month.)

I also have an 1989 Jetta. It was a gift. It was a gift without an interior. It was a gift without an engine or a transmission. I'm am making it my own. I hope to finish it soon.

It'll be fucking sweet.
