So, I went and donated blood this morning. They called me and I asked if I was interested in donating again (I did it about a year ago), and I said yes. So I showed up at 9:15 and did the paperwork and the quiz and got stabbed etc. Gave them however much blood they needed got my bandage and went over for some tasty cookies.
I'm hanging out at the table reading the newspaper, or more specifically, reading about a kid who hired his friends to steal and torch his mother's BMW so that he could convince her to buy a Bentley to replace it, what a fucking asshole. I'm starting to feel a little bit light headed, so I reach for a cookie... I'm trying to open the fucking package and wow, did I have a wonderful dream. Everything got soft and peaceful, there were a lot of interesting colors and a generally awesome feeling of floating. And then I was staring at the ceiling... but that wasn't interesting so I went back to sleep... and eventually realized that I was being moved around quite a bit. I woke up with two folk over me, on the floor with my feet up on a chair. So I just started laughing.
Yup, that was my first time passing out, and I'm glad I did because it was a lot better than the light-headed nausea that I had been stuck with. The best part about this: The recovery area is in sight of the front desk. Apparently, a woman had walked in right as another was walking out. The receptionists asked the exiting woman, "Are you feeling alright?" The entering woman asked, "Did something happen to her?"
"No, I just ask that to all of our elderly donors."
"Why is that?"
"They seem to have a little more of a tendency to pass-out or faint."
"Wow, does that happen often?"
"Well in the three years I've been here, I've only ever seen three people pass..."
And right at that moment I crashed into the table. Even when I'm dying, I still have comic timing down to a art.
